MEET OUR PRESIDENT

In 2005 President Aaron H. Henson Sr. was appointed by Bishop L.F. Thuston to become the 3rd mission’s president for the Kansas East Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.  Since his installment, President Henson has continued the legacy of excellence that was started so long ago with the state’s first mission’s president, President Robert Johnson and his predecessor, President Terry Bradshaw Jr.  Under his leadership President Henson has instituted such programs as “Mission of the Month” and “Support the Troops”.  His collection efforts have help to aid local organizations in the Kansas City area such as the Wilhelmina Gill Services Center, Mercy and Truth Medical Missions, Racheal’s Tea House, and the Della Gill/Joyce H. Williams Center Friends of Yates.  He is often quoted as saying, “I am only as good as my team GOD blesses me with”.  His humble heart truly embraces the embodiment of a true mission’s leader, for he never meets a stranger and he is always willing to help.
President Henson has been married to his lovely wife Christine, affectionately known as our first lady of missions, for 20 years and together they have 4 children.  He pastors Henson Memorial COGIC located in Kansas City, KS where he has succeeded his grandfather who founded the church in 1955.  Missions has not been merely a department but it has become a lifestyle for his family and church—as both family and church family together in synergistic atmosphere to create a mission culture in every area of his life.
As he celebrates these past 10 years of ministerial service to this department and jurisdiction his biggest accomplishment has been through the many incentives geared at helping the lost—that the Lord has been satisfied.  President Henson strives for higher heights as he continues to serve faithfully this department and this great jurisdiction.
